Happy Birthdays!

So Friday was my mom's birthday, and since she and my dad were going to be at my nearby brother Patrick's house, we decided to meet them for dinner as a nice birthday surprise.  My sister-in-law, Karen, and I planned everything down to a T.  I even remembered to bring my mom's present with us (I have a bad history of forgetting presents at home).

What happened?  All three of our kids pitched a fit the entire meal.  I felt so bad for the other patrons at the restaurant!  MJ and I take our brood to restaurants very frequently, and that has never happened to us.  But we've noticed in the last few months that whenever we go out with a group, the kids are disasters.

Argh!!  It was so frustrating.  By the time the server brought my mom's birthday cake out, the only people sitting at the table were my mom, Karen, and me.  All three guys had taken all four kids and were walking them around, trying to get them to calm down.  What a mess!  I brought my camera with me, but it never even made it out of my bag.

Sorry about that, Mom!  Our hearts were in the right place!  And hopefully it was a nice birthday anyway.

The very next day, Saturday, was Rory's tenth birthday!  CC was singing the birthday song to her all day, and insisted that Rory have a special dog cake.  So I made her one out of ground beef, which she swallowed whole in about 7 seconds.  But we made her wait a few minutes first, so I could get some pictures.

(As CC was trying to blow out the candle, Little Man lunged forward and pinched out the flame with his fingers!!  He didn't get burned or make even a peep.  We were shocked!)
