Earlier this week, Little Man and Sweet Pea had their 15-month well check. And I'm blessed to be able to say that they are healthy and doing well.
They were both surprisingly social and tolerant of the exam. I was particularly surprised at Sweet Pea, who has been very "Mommy-centric" and unaccepting of strangers these last few months, but she was as happy as could be during the appointment, playing with the crinkly exam table paper and waving at the nurses. Little Man was proud to demonstrate his walking prowess, and made laps around the exam room the entire time.
Little Man continues to track at 50th percentile for weight (22 lbs, 11 oz), and just 7th percentile for height (29.5 inches). Sweet Pea actually gained some weight and registered 17 pounds 9 ounces on the scale. That's 8th percentile -- woot! She is still less than 1st percentile in height, though, at 27.5 inches. Hey -- MJ and I just make short kids, that's all there is to it. NBA players they are not.
The pediatrician and I discussed my concerns about Sweet Pea's inability to walk. It is not all that surprising that a 15-month-old not walk yet, but it's more of an issue that Sweet Pea has not made any gross motor skill improvements since she started pulling herself up to a stand at 11 months old.
Since doctors generally like to see consistent improvement in all areas, our pediatrician agreed that Sweet Pea should be evaluated just to be sure everything's okay. So I will be making some calls over the next week or so, getting Sweet Pea lined up with a physical therapist. Hopefully with a few new exercises and activities, she will be on her way to walking in no time.

Eliza walked before 12 month, but her language delay prompted me to have her evaluated from Early Intervention in our area which is at no cost to anyone for our area. I was surprised at her being below the lowest threshold for the normal range on gross motor. Her therapy happens twice a week in our home, which is super convenient for this momma. Kids really do develope at such different rates.
Sounds like a similar type of evaluation that they offer here. I will be setting something up soon!
