I won't go into too much graphic detail, but it was a pretty darn deep cut. Too severe for Urgent Care to handle, so they sent us to the same medical center where CC and the twins were born. They have a children's ER that was fabulous. I never would have guessed that going to the ER to get stitches could be calm and soothing, but it really was.

Four hours later CC was happily loopy on Versed, stitched up nice and tight, with the doctors and nurses wrapped around her chubby little finger. She cried when it was time to leave, saying she wanted to stay. What a commendation for an emergency room!
And of course it had to happen at bedtime (don't emergencies always happen at inconvenient times?), so she and I didn't get home till almost midnight. It will take us several days for CC to get back to her normal schedule, I'm sure!
Dazed but ready to go home -- the cut is hardly noticeable from the front. |
In the meantime, she's very proud of her stitches and shows them off to everyone she meets. This morning, our cashier and two fellow shoppers at the grocery store heard all the details. And she reminds me constantly, "Be careful of my stitches, Mommy. Don't get them wet!"

I keep wondering who will get this merit badge first...Eliza with her daredevil style or my son, since well...aren't boys the crazy ones?
My CC seems just as fearless as the stereotypical "boy," so not necessarily! We'll see how Little Man compares when he's older.
