Before she even turned four, CC had decided that her fifth birthday party would be a princess party. And not just any princess party: a pink princess party. Really pink. With only girls in attendance.
Well, that last point was negotiated. She has a brother, a dad, uncles, grandfathers, and boy cousins who she wanted there, after all.
Me, whose least favorite color is pink, who has never loved princesses, and who said (in the delivery room when CC was first born) that she would never do anything pink or princess-y, was in charge of making it all come together. Oh, karma, you got me good this time. But if a pink princess party is what CC wants, then that's what she'd get. Go big or go home, right?!
It was actually really fun to plan. We invited all the kids to wear royal attire, and it was cute to see the little girls running around in their princess gowns. (There was a knight as well -- yea for Bryson! -- plus, adorably, an astronaut).
We had castle-painting (birdhouses from Michael's), crown-decorating (even Grandma and Grandpa got in on the action!), a make-your-own cupcake bar, and all kinds of pink candies for favors. The weather was fantastic -- not too hot, thank goodness -- and the kids clambered all over the swingset. Pepere even stood on the slide to let all the kids fly under him.
So despite my initial reluctance, Saturday is up there among my favorite parties so far. Now CC can start planning her next party ...
