Orthodontist Visit

CC is almost 8, and it's pretty obvious that she (and probably Sweet Pea and Little Man, too) will need braces eventually. So off we went this morning to the orthodontist to get a consult.

Boy, things have changed a lot since I had braces back in the early 90s! There was a super cool rotary x-ray machine that took a 3-D image of her head, which was really interesting to see on the computer screen. She had all kinds of pictures taken of her teeth and face. The orthodontist and his entire staff were extremely friendly, and they got a very nervous CC to open up and relax during a tour of the clinic. CC got to spin a giant wheel to win a prize, plus picked out her own tube of Chap-Stick (cherry) and a glow-in-the-dark bracelet. I think she's ready to beg for braces right now!

Fortunately, the recommendation by the orthodontist was that she likely won't need braces until she's closer to 12, and probably won't need any teeth pulled at all. That's what I like to hear! We will go back every 6 months to make sure her teeth are progressing the way they should, and after today's experience, I doubt CC will complain.
