Army-Navy 2019

MJ and I had a blast in Philly this weekend! It was a fairly last-minute decision to go up for the game, but when we found out Ted would be in town visiting his brother, we jumped at the chance.

We arrived early on Friday, and our hotel couldn't have been better located -- adjacent to the Reading Terminal Market, and just a few blocks from City Hall and Love Park. This year, we skipped the patriotic sites, since we toured them two years ago. Instead, we focused on some local attractions, like exploring the Christmas market downtown and having a cheesesteak at Carmen's.

Friday night we went to an Ethiopian restaurant with Ted, his brother Rob, and his girlfriend Claire. The restaurant had quite possibly the world's worst service, but the company was unparalleled.

We started Saturday morning in fine fashion, having a hot apple turnover and scrapple for breakfast. Then we linked up with the Brooks family tailgate, just like last time. Ted and Rob joined us, and we were happy to introduce them to the traditions associated with Army-Navy. It's always fun to go to an Army tailgate, because you run into people you haven't seen in years, and everyone is so welcoming.

Sadly, the game did not go as well for us as it did last time. But we salvaged the evening by crashing Rob's office Christmas party.

A huge thank-you goes to Grandma and Grandpa, who held down the fort here at home. Unfortunately, Little Man caught a stomach bug, which wasn't fun for anyone. But he seems to have rallied, and I think we're all looking forward to settling back into our normal routine this week.
