We did something for the first time yesterday -- we went to a Christmas Tree Farm and cut down our own tree!
"Can't we just go to our church and buy one?" whined Sweet Pea when she learned that it would be a whole hour's drive. She is clearly MJ's daughter.
But we had fun, and the kid are already begging to do it again next year. We brought Amber (nice bonus!) and picked out a Southern Scotch Pine. The kids drank hot chocolate while MJ and I loaded the tree onto the car, and we were on our merry way.
(Bad news: I lost my phone while we were there. Good news: someone turned it in an hour after we left. Bad news: I had to drive back there this afternoon to get it.)
We got our tree home and decorated it while listening to Christmas music. It's CC's year to put the star on the tree, and Little Man made a big production of marching the star into the family room and bowing as he presented it to her -- quite the ceremony!
