Independence Day

Land of the free, home of the brave!

We had a blast on the 4th of July. It's one of my favorite holidays! Memere and Pepere came to celebrate with us, and even took the kids to the pool in the morning.

They surprised the kids with a ton of water balloons! CC wanted no part of them, but Sweet Pea and Little Man had a great time splashing with Pepere and Daddy, and Memere was a good sport by handling all the balloon filling.

Later we taught Memere and Pepere how to play Doubles Solitaire, and we had quite a tournament going.

After MJ grilled our dinner and it started to get a little darker outside, we played with sparklers in the backyard. This time it was Little Man who wanted no part of it, but the girls got over their fear pretty quickly.

MJ and I let each of the kids pick out one thing at the fireworks tent the day before, and their choices perfectly illustrated their personalities:

They were awesome! Sparks and booms and smoke filled the backyard. And before it was even totally dark, we were all in bed.

It was an awesome holiday. God bless America!
