Trip to Connecticut

We hadn't been to Connecticut since before Covid, and meanwhile, last month Grandma Jean turned ONE HUNDRED! We had to go and celebrate with her. So off we went, on our first flight in years.

MJ showed us all his old haunts, including the houses he grew up in and his former middle and high school:

Friday night, we took Cousin Carol out to dinner, and it was a lovely evening. The kids warmed up to her immediately and chatted away the whole time.

We spent lots of wonderful quality time with Grandma Jean. She treated the kids to cookies, and they entertained her with stories about school and sports. Claire showed her the pen and pencil roll she made with my sewing machine, and Jean was duly impressed.

On Saturday morning, we made a side trip to the Dr Seuss Museum in Springfield, Massachusetts. It was darling! We learned so much about him, had fun playing with the interactive exhibits, and loved the sculpture garden.

Daddy even rode Mr Gump's Seven-Hump Wump with the kids!

Another highlight of the trip was our visit to Munson's Chocolates. For years, Grandma and Grandpa have been bringing the kids chocolates from Munson's, and the kids couldn't wait to visit the shop themselves.

That evening, we took Grandma Jean and her aide, Carla, out to dinner. Our meal was full of laughter, good food, and love.

We returned home this evening, tired but happy. I hope another 3 years doesn't go by before we get up there again, maybe for a little longer this time!
