Twins' Birthday Party

Over the long weekend we had a party for Sweet Pea and Little Man, so our families could get together to celebrate. The twins requested a Notre Dame-themed party, and it was perfect timing, because the Irish had just played their season opener the day before and won against the Texas A&M Aggies.

Grandpa and Grandma were there, plus Memere and Pepere, and Patrick came with the boys, too. It was a small but fun group, and we had a good time. Sweet Pea requested Chick Fil A, and Little Man requested mac n cheese, so we had both.

Little Man received a Notre Dame jersey that he immediately wore for the rest of the day, a huge Lego set of a Star Wars Star Destroyer, some Minecraft books, a very realistic light saber, and a new Nerf gun. Sweet Pea was excited about her Lego Friends mansion, Nike Air Max sneakers, a safe to lock all her treasures in (that she promptly locked the keys inside -- thanks to Uncle Patrick for saving the day); and some pretty yellow bags to keep her toiletries and stage makeup in. Everything was a hit!

Memere came through with an awesome cake, as always! It was a triple winner, because the cake, the filling, and the ice cream were all Cookies & Cream -- their favorite.

It was a really nice afternoon, and we're so thankful to everyone who was here. Sweet Pea and Little Man finished their massive Lego sets in less than 24 hours and have been happily playing with them ever since!

That night, I took my mom out to celebrate her birthday (which always gets lost with all the twins' festivities). Our plan was to enjoy a glass of wine out, then go see a good movie. We had a lovely time chatting over wine at a nice restaurant nearby, but when it was time to drive to the theater, we were hit by the mother of all thunderstorms. When we arrived at the theater, the parking lot was flooded and the power was out, so we couldn't watch the movie. We tried to drive to a different theater to catch it, but we arrived too late. I was disappointed my mom didn't get a birthday celebration of her own, but we will definitely plan a replacement outing soon. And like she said, we still spent the evening together, and that was the main point.

Happy birthday, Mom!
