However, fall is one of my favorite times of year. And now that the kids are getting a little older and more aware, we can do more family activities. Like going to a farm to pick our pumpkins!
A big family farm nearby puts on quite a show for the fall. A pumpkin patch, hayrides, a petting zoo, cow milking, and pony rides. We went over the weekend for the first time, and I think it will become a Morrison tradition. We had a great time!
The petting zoo was a big hit with CC. They had sheep, goats, pigs, cows, chickens, rabbits, and even newborn puppies. There were food pellets to feed the sheep and goats ("No, Daddy do it.").
CC was drawn to the 4-week-old puppy like a magnet, and needed no encouragement to pet it:
There was also a baby goat, which CC reluctantly gave a little pat:
She gave the massive cow a wide berth:
Notice Little Man hangin' out on MJ's back in the above pictures? He and Sweet Pea were relatively content in their Ergos, although Sweet Pea (naturally) did more than her share of fussing. I borrowed a second Ergo from a friend for the day, but I have to say, I'm seriously considering buying another, just for outings like this. Ergos are worth their weight in gold. I can still comfortably carry CC in my Ergo for long periods of time!
Despite her initial trepidation about the giant tractor-pulled hayride, CC had a good time once we got moving. I'm sure the 20 other passengers were relieved, after I dragged a kicking and screaming toddler on board!
Back at the pumpkin patch ("punkin catch!") CC picked out pumpkins for herself and the twins. They're too small to carve, but maybe we'll paint them. I tried to get a cute picture of the three of them, but this is the best of the bunch:
I tried to cajole CC into a pony ride, but she was having none of it. "No. Just watch." And MJ wouldn't agree to a ride, either. I'll have a little work to do to ensure these kids grow up to love riding the way I do.
Extra fun: this event every year is arranged by my local Moms of Multiples club. So not only did we get half-price admission, but there were twins and triplets everywhere we looked! CC was in heaven, pointing out all the babies. "Twins like us babies!" And more than one person thought our three were triplets!
