We're back! And it was fabulous! (Despite a rough first day -- there was terrible traffic getting there, our condo wasn't ready on time, and while we waited, a massive thunderstorm sent us scurrying for dinner at 4 pm.) But after that, we had nowhere to go but up, right?
The rest of the week was just what we wanted: lazy days spent in the surf and sand, soaking up the sun, relaxing and spending priceless time with family.
Praise the Lord, there were no jellyfish stings this year. Early in the summer is definitely the safest time to go to the beach! We saw tons of stingrays in the shallow water, about the size of dinner plates. Unbelievable! They didn't bother anyone, but just rippled around as the waves receded.
The kids were so adventurous in the water this year, I couldn't believe it! They were up to their necks most of the time, jumping over waves, splashing each other, and having a ball.
Twice we rented a boogie board for them to ride. The kids loved it, but most of the time they played with it as a floatie, tugging each other around.
We took another long bike ride on the sand one morning, but we learned from our mistakes two years ago -- we didn't ride in the water. We stayed on the hard-packed sand, which kept everyone clean and dry and happy.
As per my habit, one morning I woke up early to watch the sun rise. Last year, Sweet Pea came with me, and this year CC insisted on her turn. Sure enough, she eagerly hopped out of bed at 5:30 am to join me.
