CC's Swim Meet

Finally! A swim meet that allowed spectators! One family member for each swimmer was allowed to attend, so I was finally able to watch CC do what she loves.

She swam the 100m freestyle, the 100m backstroke, and the 50m breaststroke. She didn't seem nearly as anxious about swimming 100 meters as she used to be. Maybe she's finally adjusting?

Freestyle was first, and she looked strong for the first three laps. On the fourth lap, she had to pause a few times to catch her breath, but overall she did very well, beating several other girls in her heat. She told me afterward that this is the first time she's made it to the final lap before needing to pause. Progress!

This is the look I get when CC catches me taking her picture from across the pool:

Backstroke was next, and she was doing really well, but unfortunately she was disqualified for her flip turn. She'll work with her coaches so it doesn't happen again.

She finished up with breaststroke, which is her favorite (and best) stroke. A good way to end her meet!

This is the last of the "Short Course" meets," where they use a 25-meter pool. From now until August, the meets will be "Long Course," which means she'll swim in an Olympic-sized (50m) pool. But she will still swim 50m and 100m distances.
