MJ turned 44 today! And we had such a wonderful weekend. Even the weather cooperated!
We mostly celebrated last night, when Grandma and Grandpa came over for cake (well, key lime pie), presents, and singing. The present that got the most attention from everyone was the kids' gift to Daddy -- a "Simpson-ized" portrait of our family. I'm so happy with how it turned out. Every detail is perfect, down to MJ's shirt, CC's bathing suit, Sweet Pea's gymnastics leotard, and Little Man's ever-present hoodie.
Then Grandma and Grandpa spent the evening with the kids while MJ and I had a date night. Wahoo! We went ax throwing, which I've wanted to do for ages. It was a blast! MJ was definitely better at it than I was, but he claims to have "incredibly good hand-eye coordination." Plus he's done it before.
We followed that up with dinner at a wonderful steakhouse. Huge thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for allowing us this much-needed time together!
After Mass this morning we went out to brunch, and spent the rest of the day relaxing and playing games. Tonight's dinner is lasagna -- MJ's favorite -- and a cookie cake that Sweet Pea and I will make.
