Jack O'Lanterns

This is the first year we haven't been to a pumpkin patch, and I was a little sad. The kids didn't want to go! They said it isn't fun, and they'd rather get their pumpkins at a roadside stand. Sigh.

So we did, on a wet evening a few days before Halloween. They each had their ideas of what they wanted to carve and what size and shape pumpkin they needed, and they found them pretty quickly (the rain helped their decision-making timeline, I'm sure).

Then it was carving time! As usual, they roped MJ into helping them scoop all the guts out. But every year, they're getting better about doing more of it themselves.

CC carved an intricate Jack Skelly face onto hers. Sweet Pea picked an adorable dinosaur. And Little Man carved the "triforce" symbol (it's a Zelda thing). Success all around!

Now we're ready. Bring on Halloween!
