Scout Camp

After a successful year of Boy Scouts, Little Man was eager to go to summer camp with the troop. Quite a few boys from his troop attended, and I loved that his Scoutmasters not only attended as well, but they drove the boys there and back. What a load off our shoulders!

Little Man earned the First Aid, Leatherwork, and Video Game Design merit badges while he was there, and almost completed the Orienteering and Reptile & Amphibian Studies badges. Good work!

One morning, his troop woke up well before dawn in order to hike up to the top of a mountain nearby. Little Man reports they had an awesome view from the top, including a birds-eye view of the scout camp. And on the hike, they saw the most incredible bright orange lizard!

The troop had a campground that was located on a slope, and Little Man and his tentmate, Andrew, had the lowest tent on the site. Unfortunately, it poured rain one day while the scouts were out doing activities, and when they returned, they realized their tent had flooded and all their bags. So for the rest of the week, he and Andrew wore wet clothes and shoes. I think he learned the hard way that he should put his bag on top of his cot every morning when he leaves. It was all very stinky when he returned home -- his whole bag stayed in the garage before the clothes were dumped straight into the washer!
