Four Months

Let me just start by saying that I'm feeling a lot better now.  CC still fusses when she eats, but it seems to be getting better.  And she has slept through the night twice in a row now, which has done me a world of good.  Now, onto the post at hand ...

CC is growing up fast!  I can't believe it's the end of the summer, and she is already 4 months.  It seems like she was just born a few weeks ago!

New things for this month:

- She can roll over both directions.  Interestingly enough, once she learned to roll from back to belly, she stopped rolling from belly to back.  I finally saw her do it yesterday, so maybe she'll begin rolling herself onto her back when she's tired of being on her tummy.

- She sleeps on her belly now, every time. Within minutes of putting her down in the crib, she has rolled onto her belly and started sucking her thumb.  So cute!

- She laughs, when one of us is also laughing.  It sounds like "huh, huh, huh," and is accompanied by huge, face-splitting grins.  I'll have to try to get some video of it!

- She reaches for things better and better every day.  And as soon as she grabs them, they go straight to her mouth.  Nothing is safe.

- She can't sit up on her own, but she loves sitting in her Bebe Pod seat, where she's a little more supported.  Often when you lay her down, she struggles to sit up.  These little "baby crunches" are adorable!

- She really likes swimming.  We've taken her twice now.  The first time she was content and just sat nicely in MJ's arms.  But the second time, in our neighbor's pool, she was full of smiles and seemed to really enjoy herself!

- She is obsessed with her tongue.  She has always liked sticking it out, even when she was a tiny newborn, but lately she's taken things to a new level.  And it's the longest tongue I've ever seen.  She can stick it out far enough to lick the underside of her chin!

- She is LOUD.  Even when she's not crying, she's loud!  She is experimenting with all the different sounds she can make.  Most recently, she realized she can also make noise while inhaling, so at times she sounds as if she's wheezing badly.  But all this noise makes it difficult to take her to restaurants and church.  I suppose a loud baby is better than a loud crying baby, but not by much.

This has been a tough month, but apparently the fourth month is often difficult.  She's changing and developing so fast that I'm optimistic her temperament will improve in time.  Already, her happy moods are great, last quite a while, and keep me smiling the rest of the day.  Now if we could just get rid of the fussiness, we'd really be in business!

I ditto on the growing up fast! But we are loving the 90% sttn pattern she has. Is she standing yet with support to balance?

Ever since she was about two weeks old, her preferred way to be held has been "standing up." At this point, if you hold her hands, she can stand, but only for short periods (a minute or so) and she's pretty wobbly.
