Musical Merit

Guess who won the 5th grade Music Student of the Year award? Sweet Pea! She was thrilled, and no one was surprised -- she loves music class, took part in all the extracurricular music activities, and even learned the piano accompaniment to one of The Greatest Showman songs for the school's performance.

Her music teacher definitely appreciated her, and the feeling was mutual!

Show and Tell

It's been ages since CC has had show and tell at school, but this week she decided to bring the guitar. It's the same one that we've been borrowing from friends of ours for a month now, the one that Little Man is obsessed with. (In fact, when CC announced yesterday that she was bringing the guitar, Little Man had a meltdown about it.)

Here's CC discussing it. The video goes off the rails a bit, devolving into how the strings tickle her fingers, and even giving one of our favorite guitarists a shout-out. But you get the idea!

Show & Tell

This semester, CC's preschool class started Show & Tell every other week. I don't remember ever having Show & Tell at school when I was little, so this is exciting for me as well as CC.

The first week, she decided to bring some MagnaTiles (her favorite building blocks) to show everyone in class how to make a little castle. She rehearsed at home several times. I couldn't wait to hear how it went when I picked her up from school.

"Did everyone like the MagnaTiles?" I asked her. "Were they impressed at how you could build a castle?"

"Well, they already know how," she said. "We have MagnaTiles at my school."

It was hard for me not to laugh. I had no idea her classroom already had MagnaTiles!

The next time, CC chose to bring Lamb, her special guy. Lamb is the only stuffed animal she sleeps with, and he definitely has the number one position in her heart. I took a video of CC talking about bringing Lamb to Show & Tell, so you could hear what she had to say.

I'd just like to say that I love this video. It shows her personality so well! She's goofy and silly, and also articulate and generally happy. I laugh out loud at the beginning, when Lamb pops up and CC says, "Peekaboo!" I hope you enjoy it, too!

P.S. She actually forgot to bring Lamb the next morning -- she accidentally left him at home instead of putting him in her school bag. But her teachers said she was a champ and didn't cry a bit when she realized. So she'll bring him in this week, instead.
