For those of you wondering about our nephew, Bryson, we have great news! My brother and sister-in-law traveled all the way to Cinncinati last weekend so Bryson could spend this week being evaluated and tested by Cinncinati Children's Hospital, the experts on children's airways.
Bryson's trachea has grown! This is fantastic news -- his extremely narrow airway was a life-threatening issue, because if he caught a cold his airway could close off completely. But a new test this week has shown that his trachea has widened and a cold would no longer be a life-threatening event.
He still needs to be monitored to make sure his trachea continues to grow, but this was the best news we've received about him, maybe ever. He has additional health issues (heart, neck, etc.) but his airway was the most critical.
Hallelujah! Thank you everyone for all your thoughts and prayers! My brother said that Bryson was probably on about 100 prayer chains all across the country, and he attributes this wonderful news to all those prayers.
P.S. Selfishly, I am thrilled that I'll be able to see Bryson again! Because of the risk of infection, he had limited contact with anyone outside his parents. I haven't seen him in months, and now that he's been cleared, I will be able to see him (hopefully) soon!
