Great-Grandma's 90th Birthday

Last weekend, MJ and I took CC to visit MJ's family for his grandmother's 90th birthday bash.  We are so blessed that she's here with us, and so vibrant and healthy!  She puts us all to shame.

The lady of the hour

CC had a great weekend, despite a rough start (she screamed for most of the airport and airplane experience, much to the disgust of everyone around us, I'm sure!).  All the family members showering attention on her more than made up for it on Saturday and Sunday.

The party was Saturday evening, and it went off without a hitch.  MJ took charge of CC, since I was busy taking pictures of the event.  Fortunately he had lots of help from our neices, Anna and Abby, as well as the adults who were gushing over such an adorable baby girl (if I do say so myself).  We were warned several times that CC would get taken from us by some of MJ's smitten cousins!

Sunday we recovered from our exciting evening by going to the pool.  The toddler pool was perfect for CC -- just one foot deep, and as large as our living room.  It took a while for CC to get her "sea legs," since in the beginning she would occasionally get knocked down by the currents in the water.  It's a little alarming to watch your one-year-old tumble face-first into the water!  But she was a trooper and before long she was taking tentative steps in the water and playing with some pool toys.

She even got to try some of Anna's ice cream, which was a big hit!

Before we knew it, it was time to say good bye.  Weekends with family are always too short!  Hopefully it won't be too long before we see everyone again.

Our return flight home Monday morning was (thankfully) more successful than our flight on Friday; CC slept most of the way, and happily ate her breakfast when she woke up.

Since then, she's been recovering from all the excitement.  Today is the first day she's back to her normal schedule!  It's true that CC is the center of our world, but it must be a hard transition for her to not be the center of fifty people's attention anymore!
