Today has been perfect! We started off with Mass, and CC was pretty good for most of it. Our paster ended the service with some nice quotes about fathers, including this one: "My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it" (Clarence B Kelland). I think that's a nice way to think about fatherhood!
On our way home, we stopped for bagels, and both picked the same kind -- cinnamon raisin. Are we a good match or what? CC enjoyed pieces of them too.
We went for a nice walk as a family, including Rory, when we returned home. Then CC had a nap and MJ and I relaxed downstairs. When she woke up, we took MJ to get his hair cut, then ate lunch on a patio nearby. CC is getting very good about waving to say hi and bye, and it got her a lot of attention from people there!
When we returned home, CC and I presented MJ with his Father's Day gift: a photo book of CC's first year, full of pictures of MJ with CC from the very beginning. I spent a lot of time designing the book, and I'm happy with how it turned out -- it's hardcover, with a glossy jacket, and the pages are nice and thick. MJ immediately read it, and CC climbed up on his lap to turn the pages and point at herself:
Now we're back home; CC is napping again; and MJ and I are watching the Yankees game. Tonight I am treating MJ to a nice dinner out while a neighbor keeps CC occupied.
Could the day get any better? Happy Father's Day, MJ -- I hope you always know how loved you are!
