Rash

Yesterday afternoon, CC woke up from her nap with a red patch under her right eye.  It's about the size of a nickle.  It's in the same place where she frequently has small red bumps (which she also has on her chin).  I assumed that the small red bumps, which I have basically ignored, had progressed to something else.  Fortunately the rash doesn't seem to bother her, but I decided to take her to the pediatrician to nip this thing in the bud and make sure it doesn't get any worse.

Fortunately, the pediatrician took one look and declared that it's bug bites of some kind.  Huh -- I hadn't even considered that possibility!  So the rash will likely go away soon on its own, and appears to be unrelated to the red bumps she has on her face.

The red bumps are "contact dermatitis," or a drooling rash, for lack of a better term.  The doctor said that most babies have it, because they drool so much, get it on their hands, and rub it around their faces.  He recommended spreading a thin layer of vaseline on her face to keep the moisture from getting into her skin and irritating it.

So in the end, it was pretty anticlimactic.  I'm glad it wasn't anything worse, and CC should have clear skin soon!
