CC's Birthday Party

Whew!  The weekend was fast and furious, but so much fun.  CC had a blast, being the center of attention and having all her favorite people here (minus a few, unfortunately!).  In fact, it's been a hard fall for her these last few days, realizing that not every day is a birthday or a party, and no, she cannot have candy for breakfast, and she cannot have cake every hour on the hour, etc., etc.

This is the only picture of CC in her beautiful birthday dress that I was able to snap.  I'll definitely have to take some time in the next few weeks to dress her up again and take some nice portraits.  She loved her dress (made by my mom), but was too excited to sit still for me the day of the party.

The theme of her party was FISH!  CC loves fish: goldfish crackers, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, etc.  So I went all out with fish decorations and even a personalized fish t-shirt for her to wear when it was cake-eating time.

We had these little guys hanging from all the ceilings:

We had these little guys as favors:  (They look like bags of water with fish in them, but they're actually solid blocks of clear soap with toy fish in the middle.  My mom and I made them last week -- thank you, Pinterest!)

And this was CC's cake (no, not fish flavored!).  I couldn't believe how cute it turned out.  Thank you again to my mom, who baked and decorated it herself!

Before MJ even had a chance to cut the first piece, CC reached out and helped herself to a sugary fish off the side of the cake:

The weather was as good as I could have hoped, considering the forecast called for rain all day.  Fortunately it held off until just after the party, so the kids could play outside (and got all wet anyway, go figure!).  I had a bunch of floating fish in the kiddie pool that even toddlers could "catch" with nets.

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit:

As did Memere and Pepere:

And even Uncle Patrick came with cousin Bryson.  Bryson and CC had a blast playing in the water table with all the toy fish!

A good time was had by all, especially the birthday girl herself.  Happy Birthday to my big girl!

CC looks beautiful and so grown up. Sorry we couldn't be there to celebrate with you. Love the fishy balloons!

you let slip CC's name in the second to last picture caption. But the party looks amazing, and that cake was adorable!

Of course we loved that Jon could make it -- and told him that several times -- but I just didn't get any pictures of him!
