I'm back! Sweet Pea and I left last Thursday evening to fly to Pittsburgh to visit one of my closest friends, Carol. She recently had a baby girl, Kaya, who I needed to meet, and who was baptized over the weekend. It was the perfect time for me to visit.
This was Sweet Pea's first airplane flight, and she did great. Honestly, I was shocked; Sweet Pea has been our most difficult child lately, with near-constant crying and epic meltdowns. But despite the lateness of the flight (we landed at 9:30 and didn't get to Carol and Tom's house until almost 11!) she didn't sleep a wink, but played nicely on my lap.
We had a great time. I did some roughousing with Patrick and Tommy:
I took some portraits of their family:
And while the camera was out, we snapped some cute shots of Sweet Pea:
Carol got some snuggles with her godchild:
And I got some snuggles with Kaya before her big day:
Carol took this rare shot of me with Sweet Pea. I'm always on the other side of the camera, so it's nice to have some pictures of me with the kids!
I had a famous Primanti Bros sandwich (a gigantic sandwich stuffed with meat, cole slaw, and french fries):
Sunday morning was Kaya's Baptism Mass, which I was happy to photograph (although it was fairly challenging to do while juggling an infant solo!):
Sadly, I had to say good-bye on Sunday afternoon. For anyone who is curious, this is how I fly with an infant:
The trip was made so much easier because Carol had everything I needed for Sweet Pea. I didn't need to bring a stroller, high chair, car seat, crib, toys, or even diapers!
CC was jealous that she didn't get to ride on an airplane. But never fear, she and Little Man had a blast at home with Daddy. They went to a local children's museum; they went to the bookstore; they went out to eat for almost every meal.
