Bike Riding

Last year for her birthday, MJ and I got CC a balance bike (a very small bike with no pedals, so a child can learn balance and steering first). CC loved it immediately, but for months all she would do was sit on the bike and walk. She didn't seem to understand the concept of sitting down and trying to glide along, or to push herself forwards with her feet.

Last fall, she finally seemed to catch on a little bit -- she eventually got to the point where she was sitting down on the seat and skimming the ground with her feet, gliding a bit.

But last week, something big "clicked" in her brain.  All of a sudden she was lifting her feet up for 5, 6, 7 seconds at a time, careening down the street.  She would even put her feet up on the foot rests!  I am really amazed, and I had to get it on video:

I feel like any time now, she'll be zipping around like a 6-year-old. These balance bikes are really amazing! CC might actually learn to ride a bike without ever using training wheels.
