That City that Doesn't Sleep

MJ and I spent last weekend in New York City, celebrating our 10th anniversary (it's next week, but we were partying a bit early). We haven't been to the Big Apple since before we had children, so it was really nice to spend a long weekend there, having fun and, most importantly, enjoying a few days free from kids!

We took in two Yankees games (both wins). We saw Book of Mormon (irreverent but entertaining). We took long walks in Central Park and up and down the avenues.

We walked through Times Square in the pouring rain:

We visited the 9-11 Memorial and Museum (somber but excellent). Here's a picture of one of the two memorial pools, each the size of and in the locations of where the North and South Towers stood. Look carefully -- you can see how tiny the people look compared to the enormous waterfall gushing over the first level, into the pit below:

We spent time with some good friends:

and met their adorable baby, Michael, for the first time:

We went to a comedy club (the surprise highlight of the trip, in my opinion). We ate at many great restaurants. We did not sleep in (I don't think I'm able to anymore!). We got some souvenirs for the kids. We even bumped into Big Bird, Elmo and Cookie Monster!

Special thanks to my parents for watching the kids so we could enjoy such a special weekend. It was fabulous!
