First Hike

Last weekend the weather was so nice that we just had to get outside. So we took the kids on our first Morrison Family Hike.

We went to a state park not too far from our house, where there are ten miles of hiking trails and several ponds. There weren't many other people there, except the occasional person with a dog or a fishing pole. The kids were enthusiastic about picking which direction to go at each fork, finding ponds, and running far ahead of us on the trails.

We walked about 1.5 miles (not bad for tiny legs!) and found plenty of treasures. Daddy showed the kids how to skip rocks on the water, and CC climbed up a surprisingly large boulder. Eventually Sweet Pea stepped in a puddle and got her sneakers wet, and Little Man broke his "magic wand" stick, so we called it a day. But it was still a nice outing! I'm looking forward to more -- and longer -- hikes as the kids get older. What a nice way to enjoy the outdoors and spend time together!
