Birthday Weekend

The rest of the big birthday weekend was fun and eventful. We hung out with Grandma and Grandpa; CC opened her presents; and MJ measured her on our family growth chart (she's grown 2.5 inches).

But the big news is that CC got her ears pierced! She's been wanting to do it since she turned four, but when we took her last spring, she backed out at the last minute. So we told her she'd have to wait until she was five before trying again.

This year, she kept telling us that she wasn't going to change her mind. Yeah, right, we thought. But she climbed up on the special chair, picked out the ones she wanted (rainbow-colored flowers), and waited patiently for her turn. I had MJ take a picture of us together right beforehand -- her last picture with no earrings!

CC sat as still as a statue while it was done. She didn't react in any way, and I wasn't sure if she was stunned, or in pain, or what. But then she asked for a lollipop, and I knew she was fine. Ha! The woman in charge told her that most five-year-olds cry, so CC is very proud of herself for being tough.

Afterwards, CC got some comfort and praise from Grandma, and we went home for naps.(Since then, she's been telling everyone she sees about her earrings!)
