Happy New Year!

We welcomed 2017 in style, by having two parties.

First, we celebrated my dad's birthday, and Patrick and Karen and the boys came over for the festivities. CC, Sweet Pea and Little Man had helped me bake and decorate a lemon cake for him, and it was a big hit. And cute, if I do say so myself.

CC did most of the writing, and I was impressed how well she could squeeze the little tube at the same time as writing the letters.

Pepere had plenty of help opening up his presents!

After we said goodbye to Braxton and Bryson, our three took a nap so they'd be ready to hit the town that night. Did any of them sleep? No. Did we decide to go to the New Year's Eve party anyway? Yes. Eh ... that might have been a mistake.

We'd thought the kids would enjoy a family-friendly outdoor party near MJ's office. There'd be face painting, arts and crafts, live music, etc. Face painting was the biggest hit. Sweet Pea wanted to be made up like a butterfly (yellow, naturally). CC chose a Wonder Woman crown. Little Man went back and forth but ultimately chose a puppy.

As it turns out, two of the three kids did enjoy the party. But Little Man was a wreck almost from the first minute. After about an hour, we headed home and got the kids in bed by 9. By then, all three of them were having tantrums. Happy New Year to us!

(My own personal countdown has started. One more day until the twins go back to school, and two more days until CC goes back to school ...)
