Birthday Outings

Sweet Pea and Little Man had their special birthday outings with Alice over the last few weeks, and are still talking about them.

Sweet Pea went downtown for her outing, touring the science museum, eating lunch, and going to a bakery afterwards to pick out a special dessert. The highlight was getting to pick out her own gift at the museum gift shop! She picked a rainbow-colored racetrack set with a motorized race car. This girl is all about rainbows!

Little Man's outing was a trip to the mall to visit the Lego store, where he was able to pick out a set for himself. He already knew what he wanted: he'd done his research already and had his heart set on a Star Wars command shuttle. After he picked it, Alice told him he could pick one more set. He refused! "Mommy said only one," he insisted. So Alice had to call me on the phone so I could give him permission to pick out another set. Oh, my little rule-follower!

Afterwards, he agreed to lunch, but nothing more. No ice cream. No cake or cookies. He wanted to go straight home and start working on his Legos! Alice definitely scored a home run on this one.

The next day, a Saturday, we offered to take the kids to a festival. Little Man said NO. He didn't want to go on rides, eat ice cream, ride a pony, go to the petting zoo ... he wanted to stay home to do Legos! He's obsessed! So he stayed home with MJ and they had a nice day while I took the girls to the festival.

Sweet Pea, writing her thank-you note afterwards: "Dear Miss Alice, thank you for our special birthday date." I love it!
