Girls' Getaway

Over the long weekend I went to Saint Augustine, Florida, with a group of women to celebrate Linda's 40th birthday. It was a perfect getaway, because several of the rest of us turn(ed) 40 this year, too.

There were 11 of us in a house near the beach, and we relaxed, watched movies, ate great food, wandered around downtown Saint Augustine, visited the Fountain of Youth, and generally had a wonderful time. There were no little people needing to be fed, or bathed, or napped, or separated, or disciplined, or entertained.

Our first full day there, we insisted on going to the beach. It was 76 degrees! Perfect beach weather! Well, except for the wind, and that the sun kept going behind clouds. We were shivering and covered in goosebumps, but we stayed out in our bathing suits anyway. We were in Florida -- we had to!

I went for several long walks on the beach, including at sunrise one morning. It was extremely foggy that morning, though, so my sunrise pictures were a little eerie. The entire beach was shells, which wasn't fun to walk on with bare feet, but gave me plenty of treasures to bring home to the kids.

The Morrison trio was home happily with Daddy, where they ate out almost every meal, watched tons of movies, visited the trampoline park, had playdates with friends, and otherwise enjoyed doing things "Daddy's way."
