T-Ball Season

It was a short season! Only two months and about 10 games.

Little Man was very into the team aspect of the game. He loved goofing around with his teammates, talking to everyone on the field ("Get ready, guys! Get ready!"), and hitting "home runs" at the end of the batting order. (There are no home runs in T-ball. Or outs. Or strikes. They let everyone swing away until they hit the ball, no matter how long it takes, and take one base. Everyone gets to bat each inning.) He likes to practice and hit a coach-pitched ball once this year. Halfway through the season he noticed that many of the boys were unnecessarily sliding into home on their way around the bases, and from then on, he did too.

Sweet Pea was most into the sport itself. She gave 100% effort almost all the time, standing in "ready position" out in the field, and paying attention. She's the only Morrison kid who would regularly ask to go in the backyard and practice between games. She made two awesome assists during the season, scooping up the ball at the pitcher's position and throwing it to the first baseman -- who actually caught it! She'd shoot smiles to me and MJ during games and give us thumbs up from the field. She hit two coach-pitched balls this season and is begging us to let her play in a coach-pitch league next year!

CC did not seem to enjoy T-ball. She had little to no interest in the games, refused to pay attention when in the field, swung at the ball listlessly, and almost walked the bases. She told me several times during the season that "T-ball is the worst day of my life!" So imagine my surprise when she said she wanted to play again next season!

Farewell, T-ball! We'll be playing baseball again next year, but it'll probably be coach-pitch. And that league might actually have rules.
