Happy Birthday, MJ!

Happy birthday to my one-and-only, MJ! We had a great day celebrating and spoiling him with all his favorite things. We watched The Princess Bride, played Uno Attack, and ate Pad See Ew for dinner.

What do you serve a guy when he doesn't like cake? Pie! 

Strawberry rhubarb birthday pie, to be specific -- I made it yesterday so it could set overnight. MJ and I agreed that the filling was delicious, but the "fancy" pie crust I made wasn't nearly as good as my normal crust. In the future I will stick to my tried and true recipe!

The highlight of the day was when he opened his gifts. I gave him a trombone! He used to play trombone when he was in middle and high school, and we love listening to trombone-heavy ska punk bands like Less Than Jake. The kids were fascinated and couldn't wait to try it for themselves. To my surprise, all three of them were actually able to get sound out of it the first time they tried! They thought it was hilarious.
