Making a Splash

Last year, all 3 kids participated in swim team, but due to Covid everything was virtual. This year is a bit closer to a "normal" swim team season, but it's all new to us! Unfortunately Sweet Pea and Little Man chose not to swim this year ("I'm never doing swim team again! Never for the rest of my life!" said Little Man.) But CC stuck with it, and surprisingly, without her siblings she has really gotten into it.

She is at a disadvantage, being a very petite child who doesn't swim 12 months a year. Some of these other 10-year-olds are taller than I am and swim like Katie Ledecky! But CC holds her own, even winning her heat in the most recent meet.

The best part about this season is that spectators are allowed, so we can attend her practices and meets. I love watching her swim! And I especially love seeing her so enthusiastic about an athletic event. She is particularly proud of her new muscle development (check out those abs).

There are two meets left, and CC is already asking to join a year-round swim program. Could she have finally found a sport she loves?
