Sweet Pea had her first gymnastics meet of the season this weekend, and we were excited! Not only did she have a large cheering section (me, CC, Grandma & Grandpa, and Memere & Pepere), but after such a stellar track record last season, she had high hopes for her results.
Alas, it was not to be. I'm not sure why, but Sweet Pea had her worst competition ever, by far. She almost fell off the beam, and even worse, she forgot her floor routine halfway through and just stopped.
It was quite the wake-up call. She's performing at the Silver level this year, with more difficult skills and more complicated routines. I think she learned a valuable lesson in complacency! She will have to really work her tail off this season to get scores like she did last year.
Thank goodness for all the support she gets from family! It kept her smiling despite her disappointment.
