We had a busy weekend! Pepere came in for the girls' dance and acro recital, and it was a lot of fun. This year, both girls took classes at a different studio in addition to cirque. CC took two ballet classes each week, and Sweet Pea took acro and acro dance classes.
I am so proud of how much CC grew in ballet this year. After her very first class, she was in tears at how overwhelmed and lost she felt. She didn't understand any of the terms, and all the other girls had been dancing for years. But she studied hard and paid attention, and by the end of the year she was at the top of the class! Now she's decided she wants to focus on ballet exclusively, so she'd like to find a studio that specializes in ballet. We will look into several different studios this summer.
She also incorporated her love of making costumes, and helped with the recital. She made the headpieces for one of the classes, and made the foliage armbands that Sweet Pea's class wore in their acro dance number. The studio was so appreciative!
Sweet Pea enjoyed her acro and acro dance classes, although she was the most advanced (I don't think she could really be challenged in tumbling unless she went back to gymnastics, which she has no intention of doing). But she still enjoys it, and she had fun this year. Her acro class performed a fun number to "Groove is in the Heart," wearing all neon colors, and the acro dance class performed to a piece from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty.

Next year, however, Sweet Pea will be in the Company at her cirque studio, and won't have time to take classes anywhere else.
So both girls will bid this studio a fond farewell. It was a friendly, welcoming and supportive place. I was happy with how well they sustained Sweet Pea's acrobatics, and I'm impressed with how strong a ballet foundation they gave CC.
