Mothers Day

It was a tough Mothers Day, to be honest. In some ways it was nice, because MJ and the kids were so sweet with their cards and gifts, and I also got to spend the day with my dad. But I suspect I will always feel a significant amount of sorrow on Mothers Day, because I almost always spent it with my mom.

The day before, we met Grandma and Grandpa for lunch to celebrate:

On Sunday, we'd made plans with Karen and Patrick to spend the afternoon at a minor league baseball game with Pepere. It was a really nice little stadium, and the kids had a great time with Braxton and Bryson. Pepere taught Sweet Pea how to score baseball, and now she wants to score all of Little Man's games.

In honor of Mothers Day, the stadium offered pictures for families, and I was happy to take advantage of it. Surprisingly, the picture turned out really well!

While we were together, we had a belated birthday celebration for CC (with a pan of brownies that she made herself). Pepere gave her the backpack she's been wanting, so she was beside herself with excitement. And Karen and Patrick and the boys gave her a box set of one of her favorite book series -- now she owns it and can read it whenever she wants!

My dad and I stayed up late talking that night, and it was bittersweet. I'm so glad I have him. And I'm so glad I was lucky enough to have my mom.
