Nightingale

Sweet Pea was in another cirque production over the summer. It was a small adaptation of the Nightingale fairy tale, performed at the studio for friends and family. But it was sweet, and well-done. Bonus: Pepere came into town to watch it as well!

She was originally cast as a frog, and was having a blast, because the frogs had a really fun bungee scene. But halfway through rehearsals, she was switched with her friend Joni, and became a butterfly. The two butterflies perform on silks, and it was a very difficult routine. There were tears, and frustration, and many hours of extra practice both at the studio and at home. But she prevailed and did very well! And in the process, she really impressed her director.

I knew the studio was recording the show, so I did not make a recording of my own. And that was a mistake, because the two butterflies performed on opposite sides of the stage, so the person recording had to alternate between Sweet Pea and the other aerialist. So we lost a lot of her favorite parts. I won't make that mistake again!
