I've recently learned that if we go to the box office of the big theater in town two hours before a shows starts, we can purchase any remaining tickets for pennies on the dollar! This has been an awesome revelation. We've done it twice so far, and both times we've ended up with amazing tickets.
The first time was for Beetlejuice. CC had been begging to see it, and I had become familiar with the soundtrack from her playing it all the time. Using this two-hour method, we got two great seats in the mezzanine (my favorite) and had exactly enough time left over to enjoy a leisurely lunch before the show.
Except ... my car battery chose that exact moment to die! So we ended up using that time to get it jumped, drive to Auto Zone, have the battery replaced, and drive back to the theater. We came dashing into the theater just minutes before the show, having grabbed some quick sandwiches from a place across the street. Now it's a funny memory, because thankfully we didn't miss the show.
We also learned a valuable lesson: always take a picture in front of the show backdrop before the show starts. CC and I were so frazzled from the car battery incident that we figured we'd take a picture at the intermission. But when we came out for the intermission, the employees had already packed up the backdrop! It was their last show here, so they were getting ready to move on to the next city, and apparently they decided to get an early start. So we weren't able to get the typical show picture. Instead, I took one of her with the stage behind her.
A few months later, Six came to town. CC and I had already seen it, but Sweet Pea begged to go. So off we went, two hours early ... and we scored great seats again! These were on the main floor, but in the center section, on the aisle, in the 6th row! Amazing. And this time, we did enjoy a leisurely meal before the show.
And we learned our lesson from the previous show ... we took our picture first! Notice CC's dress -- she whipped out the glittery green decals she used for her Anne Boleyn Halloween costume two years ago. She got several compliments!
No, CC is not that tall. She's wearing 4-inch heeled boots!
