This has been a very busy week for baby-related things! I signed us up for birthing classes, ordered the nursery curtains, ordered all the nursery furniture, and started clearing out the nursery. That's quite a few things checked off my baby list!
MJ and I are really excited about the nursery furniture (thank you, Grandparents!): a glider and ottoman, a crib, and a dresser with a changing-table top. I will wait to get those large pieces in the nursery before I make any decisions about bookcases, end tables, lamps, or shelves.
I will post pictures of the furniture once the nursery is finished, but for now I will just say that the color scheme for the nursery is teal and white. I absolutely love it and can't wait to have all the pieces together!
This morning I had my monthly OB appointment, where I learned I have gained 22 pounds so far. Now I officially weigh more than MJ. *sob*
Actually, my doctor is pleased with my weight gain; it's right where he wants it to be. He estimates I will top out at 30 pounds by the time I deliver, which is right smack dab in the middle of the "suggested" range.
Today's appointment included the infamous glucose test, where you drink a very sweet orange drink and then wait an hour to have your blood tested. High levels of sugar in your blood indicate an increased risk of gestational diabetes. I'll find out my results next week, but my doctor isn't worried at all because I don't have any risk factors for gestational diabetes.
I also received another ultrasound today (have I mentioned how much I love my doctor?). Since I'd just had the super-sweet orange drink, Otto was extra active during the ultrasound! His fists were pumping away, his mouth was opening and closing, and I could see his eyelids tightly closed.
The doctor confirmed that Otto is head-down, which is a very good thing. Apparently once babies flip into the birth position, they usually stay that way, so there is very little concern now that Otto will be breech.
From now on, my OB appointments will be every two weeks. In the final month, they will be every week. I'll definitely be seeing a lot of my doctor -- it's a good thing I like him so much!
