This morning I had my latest OB appointment, and things are looking great! I had another ultrasound, and Otto was very active, kicking his feet and swinging his arms all over the place. It was odd to feel him moving and watch him moving on the screen at the same time.
My doctor confirmed that my amniotic fluid levels are good, and Otto is still head down and facing left. We could see his mouth opening and closing too, although he wasn't sucking his thumb this time.
He gave me a few recommendations for pediatric practices, so in the next few weeks I will be visiting them to make a decision. Every practice holds frequent "open houses" where prospective patients can visit, meet some of the staff, see the facilities, and ask questions.
He also gave me a prescription for medical-grade compression stockings to help with my obscenely swollen feet and ankles. I'm wearing them now ... trust me, they're sexy! But I'll put up with them if they make my ankles and feet look less like sausages ready to burst.
Lastly, my carpal tunnel has unfortunately worsened. I long for the days of last week, when my biggest complaint was the numbness and tingling. Now, extreme pain has entered the picture. Every night it wakes me up, feeling like my fingers are slowly being crushed. Fortunately it fades during the day, leaving me with the same pins and needles feeling, but I dread each night. The soonest available time I can receive the cortisone injection is Monday, so I will have to tough it out a little longer.
