So finally we've begun work on the nursery! It's a good thing, too, because the glider, ottoman, and curtains are in and ready to be delivered. I'm sure I'll get the call about the crib and dresser any day now, so we needed to get going.
Once the sofabed was gone, I spent a week clearing out the rest of the non-baby items from the nursery. That required multiple trips to Goodwill, as well as the purchase of a filing cabinet for MJ's man room (previously our files were in a plastic box in the nursery), and another bookcase for our ever-expanding collection of books.
Last weekend, MJ painted the upper portion of the walls, and we were both really happy with the results. This week I completed the beadboard treatment on the bottom portion of the walls, which was slow going (thanks to the carpal tunnel), but I love how it turned out!
Today, our contractor installed a strip of trim molding to transition between the beadboard and the paint. I caulked the molding, taped it all off, and painted it a crisp, glossy white. Finally, the walls are done, and we're ready to start accepting furniture!
I'll save full pictures until all the furniture and accessories are in, but for now I'll give you this sneak peek:
