Here's a video clip of a portion of the ultrasound:
We haven't had an ultrasound with this (high-quality) machine since our 18-week appointment in November, so we were pretty excited. Oddly enough, today's ultrasound was, in some ways, less clear than the last one. In November, Otto was small enough that we could see most of him on the screen. Today, we could only see one body part at a time, because he has grown so much! So it was a little harder to get the "big picture."
On the other hand, the parts that we could see were clearly more defined. Not necessarily more developed (because at 18 weeks Otto had all his bits and pieces), but now he has enough fat and soft tissue to be noticeable on an ultrasound. We could see his chubby cheeks! His eyes were open, and we could see him looking around in different directions. Also, the technician checked Otto's hair (which I didn't know you could see on an ultrasound) and said that he has "just a little fuzz." It's amazing!
So, I'm glad my doctor told me last week not to worry or stress about today's ultrasound. It went great, and we are so happy and relieved that Otto seems to be doing great.
P.S. My doctor told me today that if I go into labor now, they won't try to stop me, because I'm close enough to my due date. Holy cow! Not that I have any signs of going into labor soon, but it just gave me another reminder of how close we are to having this baby!
