Dane's First Visit

As I mentioned in this post, my sister-in-law, Susan, came to visit last week with my nephew, Dane.  This was the first time he's visited us, and the first time he's spent the night outside his own crib.  Fortunately, he slept well in the pack-n-play while he was here, much to Susan's relief.  (He could have slept in our baby's crib, but as I complained mentioned previously, the crib and dresser have not been delivered yet.)

However, I was happy to let my darling nephew use whatever else he liked.  He slept in our nursery; he was rocked and fed in our beautiful glider; he even drifted to sleep each night with the help of a stuffed frog that displayed stars onto the ceiling (thanks, Kris!).

Best of all, he was a trooper when Susan and I did my marathon Babies R Us shopping trip.  With the exception of a quick nursing break in the middle, he sat contentedly in his stroller or his Baby Bjorn carrier for several hours while we compiled and purchased roughly 5 hundred thousand items.  He had a meltdown on the way home, but honestly, I was on the verge of a meltdown myself, so who could blame him?

It was really nice for me and MJ to spend some quality time with Dane.  Usually when we see him, it's for short family visits and everyone wants to hold him, of course!  But by the time they left yesterday, I swear Dane could recognize us, because he was much more smiley and responsive to us than when he arrived.  He's such a cutie!  And he seemed to be very interested in Rory, too.
