Yesterday CC had her two-month appointment. I was very curious to see what she weighed, considering she hadn't gained nearly as much weight as we thought she would in her first month.
CC now weighs 11 pounds, 2 ounces. That's more than a pound and a half increase in the past month! She is still squarely in the 50th percentile in all three categories: weight, length (22 inches), and head circumference (39 cm). She's as healthy as can be.
On a related note: why do they measure length in inches, but head circumference in centimeters? Very odd, in my opinion.
The doctor was impressed with her sleeping schedule. She recommended that I stick to it as long as it continues to work well for us and for CC. And she reassured me that CC's head and neck control is very good for her age, despite the fact that CC hates tummy time and doesn't do it very often. According to the doctor, tummy time is really any time CC isn't lying down or sitting in the carseat. Fortunately, she loves "standing up" and being held in positions where she supports her head on her own, so it's not necessary to put her on her tummy frequently.
As for this past week of fussiness and tantrums ... well, there's nothing to be done about it. It is most likely a growth spurt that is causing CC to be more tired than usual, and tiredness results in crankiness. I will renew my efforts to give her more naps, especially in the evenings.
CC received three vaccines: one orally and two via injection. She drank the drops easily enough, but turned dark red and let the entire world know just how outraged she was about the shots! But by the time we got back to the car, she was already fast asleep.
The doctor warned me that she is likely to sleep a lot in the next 24 hours, maybe get a mild fever, and likely be more irritable (is that possible? ha ha). No signs of fever yet, and no irritability (beyond the normal, of course!) but CC ended up sleeping for four hours after her appointment!
