Appointment Update

Remember back at her 4-month appointment, CC's pediatrician recommended that she see a pediatric gastroenterologist?  Remember?  It was waaaaaaay back, almost a month ago.

Well, I've been waiting for the referral to be processed.  And CC is still having a lot of issues nursing (it wasn't the teething, apparently).  The referral was supposed to take a few days, according to the pediatrician.  When I hadn't heard back 4 days later, I called and spoke to the referral coordinator.  She apologized and assured me that she would handle it that day.

The next week, I still hadn't heard back, so I called again.  The referral coordinator wasn't there, but a nurse took my message and confirmed that it would be processed ASAP.

Over the next 2 weeks, I left 3 other messages, all to no avail.  Finally, the referral coordinator called me back last week and apologized for my request "slipping through the cracks."  I'm not sure how it could have slipped through the cracks, considering I'd spoken to her personally, and another nurse, plus left 3 messages.  She promised to handle it personally and get back to me no later than Tuesday.

Tuesday came and went ... and so did Wednesday ... and I'd had it. This was ridiculous.  CC and I staged our very own sit-in at the clinic this morning.  I walked in and very politely told the receptionist that I'd like to speak to the office manager.  When the manager called me back to a conference room, I explained that I'd waited almost a month for the referral, and I wasn't going to leave until I had it.

Ten minutes later, CC and I departed with an appointment confirmed for tomorrow!  We see the specialist in the afternoon and will hopefully get some answers and/or a game plan for the future.  Stay tuned, and wish us luck!
