I assumed CC would like butternut squash, because I always thought it tasted very similar to sweet potatoes, and she can't get enough sweet potatoes. Sure enough, she ate them like a champ:
It was an extra special new food for CC, because we gave it to her while visiting MJ's Uncle Brien. So Brien helped MJ feed the squash to CC. Brien adores CC, and whenever we visit him, we let him feed her. In the past it has always been a bottle, but now that she's eating solids, he needs a little help manipulating the spoon.
To make the squash, I cut it in half lengthwise, removed the seeds, and put both halves cut-side down in a dish with about an inch of water. Then I baked it at 350 for 45 minutes. When it was cool, I scooped out the meat and mashed it gently with a fork. Easy peasy.
Bonus picture: while out at lunch with Brien, CC sat in a high chair for the first time. She loved it! MJ kept a hand on her in case she got too wobbly, but she was very steady in the chair and used it as a platform from where to grab at Brien's sleeve.
