Baby A, the cooperative one |
Baby B, the little imp |
As always, they repeated a measurement that tells them my likelihood of having pre-term labor. And as before, my numbers were so high that the MFM said at this point, not only is he 100% sure I will not have pre-term labor, but he is also very sure that I will actually never go into labor. That's exactly what happened with CC, and the doctor wasn't surprised at all to hear it.
I guess it's a double-edged sword: on one hand, it is extremely likely that I will carry these babies to term and not need bedrest or risk pre-term labor. Fantastic! But on the other hand, I will almost certainly need another c-section. It's the lesser of two evils, so I suppose I'm okay with that. We'll see what the future brings.
Baby A was very cooperative and stayed still during the echocardiogram. Baby B, on the other hand, was a little stinker and kept flipping over and bucking around the whole time! Fortunately the technician was very competent and captured all the measurements despite Baby B's behavior!
Both babies are currently head down. They seem to be in a different position each time I have an ultrasound. At some point, they will stop flipping around as often, because they are getting bigger each week and pretty soon they will be very cramped inside me!
The babies' heart rates were both 138, which didn't surprise me -- so far, every time they've been right around 140. And the ultrasound estimate was that Baby A weighs 1 pound 11 ounces (42nd percentile) and Baby B weighs 1 pound 12 ounces (44th percentile). They both measured 25 and a half weeks, which is exactly what I am. Good job, babies!
Unfortunately I didn't get any videos today. The technician, while very nice and clearly good at her job, was a stickler for the rules and would not let me video even a little glimpse of the ultrasound. I was especially disappointed because MJ wasn't able to attend -- he's sick. Usually the technicians wink and let me take some video even though it's against the rules. But she printed out a few pictures for me, and it was still pretty neat to see the babies again.
