MJ's work schedule unexpectedly opened up at the beginning of March, and with the agreement of my parents (brave souls!) we decided to book a last-minute getaway for just the two of us. We went to the Caribbean -- a fantastic destination when it's early March back here in the States, cold and rainy and dreary.
Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate. It was cold and rainy and windy -- not all that different from home!
Unfortunately for my parents, all three kids were sick. CC was clingy, inconsolable, and nauseous Little Man and Sweet Pea were congested and unable to sleep. Poor Memere and Pepere!
But we had a great time and it was still a wonderful weekend (not sure if my parents would agree!). MJ and I lounged around, ate a lot of great food, read books, chatted with other couples, eagerly received e-mail updates and pictures from my parents, and recharged our batteries. Aaaah. It was nice.
Not a whole lot of our weekend was spent outdoors -- with the exception of the hot tub. We'd submerge ourselves up to our chins in the steaming water, with only our hands sticking out to hold our drinks (we learned the hard way on Day #1 that if you left your drink on the side of the hot tub, the wind would blow it over).
The sun came out briefly on our last day there (naturally). Just in time for us to snap a quick picture or two. Disclaimer: we took off our jackets for this picture!
Here's the view from our balcony. Amazing! (Although you'll notice there isn't anyone in the water or on the beach!)
In all, it was a great getaway. Much, much thanks to my parents for making it all possible!
