Seeing Santa

Our kids were lucky enough to see Santa twice this year: once when Santa came to visit MJ's office, and again when we attended a Santa Social thrown by my local twins club.

There was no way Sweet Pea was going anywhere near the strange man in the white beard. Little Man was having some last-minute second thoughts too, so at MJ's office it ended up being a full-family picture:

But at the twin social, we plopped the twins down on Santa's lap before they realized what was happening, and this is what we got:

Fortunately, Little Man can always be counted on to give us a good picture:

Both times, CC refused to sit on Santa's lap, so I told her she could just stand next to him and tell him what she wanted for Christmas. "I don't want to talk to him!" she insisted. "I don't want anything for Christmas!" (despite having told me for weeks that she wanted Santa to bring her cowgirl boots and new tights).

But once we were face-to-face with the big guy, CC steadied herself enough to nervously tell him what she wanted. Santa looked at her for a while, then looked at me and said, "How did you know she needed glasses?"

Sigh. Way to go, Santa. Let's focus on the children, shall we?

But all in all, our Santa experiences and pictures were pretty decent this year. Better than last year, when the twins were both screaming and Little Man was giving Santa the finger!

(And kudos to my observant 3-year-old, who mentioned at our second Santa meeting, "This Santa looks a little different, Mommy!")
